Our care services
What we provide, described plainly, so you can judge whether Norwood Grange is right for your relative.
Long-term residential care
Most people who come to Norwood Grange live here permanently. They have their own bedroom, keep their own belongings and routines, and receive as much or as little assistance as they need with daily life — washing, dressing, moving about, eating and medication.
Short-term respite care
Respite stays are for people who need care for a defined period: after a hospital stay, during a family carer's holiday, or simply to try the home before making a longer decision. Availability depends on the rooms free at the time, so it is worth asking early.
A care plan within 48 hours
Every resident has a personalised care plan drawn up within 48 hours of admission. It sets out their health needs, medication, mobility, diet, and the things that matter to them personally — how they like their day to run, what they enjoy, what they would rather avoid. The plan is reviewed as needs change, and families are kept informed.
Nursing and medical care
Nursing staff are on duty in the home, supported by care staff. Anne Marie Prendergast is our Director of Nursing and is happy to speak with families about clinical needs before admission.
Residents have access to:
- Their GP, who continues to visit them here
- Chiropody
- Physiotherapy
- Dental care
- Audiology
Some of these services carry a charge that is not covered by the Fair Deal Scheme. We explain what those are on our Fair Deal page.
Dignity, privacy and choice
These words appear on every nursing home website, so it is fair to ask what they mean in practice here. For us they mean: people are helped in private, and doors are closed. Nobody is rushed through a wash or a meal. Residents decide when to get up, where to sit, whether to join an activity, and who they see. Where someone finds it hard to express a preference, we ask the family what they would have chosen.
A non-smoking home
Norwood Grange is a non-smoking home, indoors and throughout.
