Norwood Grange has been a family-owned and family-run nursing home since 1996. Nestled in the peaceful countryside of Ballinora, Waterfall — just outside Cork City and between the communities of Ballincollig and Bishopstown — it offers the calm and restorative setting that so many families look for when choosing care for a loved one.
Our home is intentionally small, with space for just 30 residents. This allows us to create an atmosphere where everyone is truly known, valued and included. We believe that high-quality care is rooted in meaningful relationships, familiarity and trust.
At Norwood Grange, residents are never simply receiving a service; they become part of a close-knit community that feels more like extended family. From the moment you step through our doors, you'll notice the warmth and ease that define daily life here. Our staff are chosen not only for their professional expertise, but for their compassion, gentleness and genuine love of caring for others.

Our mission
Our mission is to deliver exceptional, person-centred care that enhances quality of life and nurtures independence, while always safeguarding the comfort, privacy and wellbeing of our residents. We believe every individual has unique needs and deserves to be supported in a way that celebrates their life story, their strengths and their choices.
Working in close partnership with residents, their loved ones and healthcare professionals, we create personalised care plans that ensure the right level of support — whether someone is joining us for short-term respite or long-term residential care. We know that a true home is more than bricks and mortar; it is a place of comfort, friendship and belonging.
Our philosophy of care
Norwood Grange aims to provide residents with a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which their care, wellbeing and comfort are of prime importance. Staff respect personal rights and privacy and are responsive to individual needs. Emotional and spiritual support is considered vital to the general wellbeing of each resident.
We work to achieve this by:
- Providing a high standard of care in line with evidence-based best practice
- Basing treatment and care on an assessment of each individual
- Ensuring safe standards of care and treatment
- Affording maximum information and choice, and involving relatives and carers
- Respecting residents' privacy, comfort and dignity at all times
- Providing a service that is appropriate and accessible
- Respecting residents' religious, cultural and political beliefs
- Maintaining a homely and safe living environment
- Equipping all staff with the training and skills to care to a high standard
Daily routines are carried out at each resident's pace, with the emphasis on maximising personal control, enabling choice, and respect for dignity. Residents may come and go as they wish, supported by an appropriate risk assessment, and we arrange a wide range of social and recreational activities both indoors and out in the garden.
Our home and location
The single-storey home has 14 private bedrooms and 8 twin bedrooms — all but one with en-suite facilities. Residents can use two living areas, a dining room, an enclosed courtyard, wheelchair-accessible garden paths and a private visitor's room called The Cocoon. Laundry is managed on site, and the home is non-smoking throughout.
You'll find us in Ballinora, Waterfall, Co. Cork (Eircode T12 WA47), a peaceful spot just outside Cork City with parking at the door.
